In 2022, Vienna recorded a total of 13.2 million overnight stays amidst new innovative hotel offerings and an impressive room supply, according to the Vienna Tourist Board. These indicators illustrate a 164% increase in comparison with 2021 and ¾ of the level in 2019. Net overnight revenues for accommodation amounted to EUR 758,874,000 during the period of January to November 2022.
According to Norbert Kettner, CEO of Vienna Tourist Board, the top 10 strongest source markets in Vienna in 2022 were Austria, Germany, the US, Italy, Great Britain, Spain, France, Romania, Israel and Poland.
The accommodation supply in Vienna includes 37,000 rooms with 71,000 beds across 398 hotel developments. That said, the amount of rooms grew by 7% in contrast with 2019, whilst the number of beds rose by 5%.
As stated by Kettner, Vienna remains highly appealing to wealthy investors, who construct new hotels and renovate existing ones. As of 2023, the capital houses 23 luxury hotels, including Rosewood Vienna, which ranked second in The World's Best New Luxury Hotels 2022 list by LTI – Luxury Travel Intelligence.
