Tanzende Türme will be built in Linz

After several years of planning and redesigning, the construction of Tanzende Türme was finally approved. This incredible project will consist of three high-rise buildings reaching 308, 236 and 167 metres tall, and will be located near Barbarafriedhof in Linz, Austria.

May 3, 2024

The architectural firms, Stögmüller and Kneidinger, both based in Linz, are responsible for designing the complex’s three buildings – two residential towers and one hotel. The ground floors of the buildings will accommodate various amenities and dining establishments, in addition to leisure and recreation options.

Architect Jörg Stögmüller mentioned that the planning process for the towers began as early as 2017, but significant refinements have been made in recent years, particularly in response to the city's changing regulations and evolving preferences. For example, the original plan for a residential street was replaced by enhanced pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.

The Tanzende Türme project, initiated by Joachim Pawelka, will implement the Linz model which stipulates that 30% of the 331 available apartments be eligible for state funding. With approval in place, applications for building permits can now be submitted. Stögmüller estimates that construction preparation will take approximately eighteen months, commencing in late 2025 or early 2026.
