On July 17th, the Austrian capital initiated ф new housing bonus scheme to ease the impact of high inflation. Residents can now receive a EUR 200 subsidy. Vienna allocated a total of EUR 140M for this purpose. There are almost 70,000 eligible households, which is about ⅔ of all the city’s households.
In order to be eligible for the Housing Bonus 2023, households are required to have their main residence in Vienna and meet the income criteria. Single-person households with a gross income of EUR 40,000 from the preceding year, and multi-person households with a combined gross income of up to EUR 100,000, also from the previous year, can apply. Please note that only those aged 18 and above are eligible to apply.
The application process is fully online. All households in Vienna will obtain a letter with detailed information on the Housing Bonus 2023, including an individual password to enter the application portal.
The application period will last until the 30th of September. The EUR 200 bonus will be sent several days after submitting the application either via a bank transfer or a postal order.
